Questions and Answers for International Volunteers

Q. What skills do I need to volunteer?

A. You aren't required to have any specific skills. All we ask is that you have a heart for children and desire to Make A Difference. However, the following are useful: 

Health Education, AIDS Training, First Aid, Construction, Gardening, Grant Writing, English, Fundraising, Literacy - Reading, Jewelry Making, Marketing, Art, Singing, Dance, Comedy, Acting, Sports, Journaling, Film, Web design and of course a creative mind!

Q. What age do I have to be to volunteer?

A.  We mainly accept volunteers who have traveled abroad, volunteered abroad and are 18 years of age and older. Exceptions are allowed, but candidates under 18 years-old must present us with a consent form signed by both parents a month before departure.

Q. In what countries can I volunteer?

A. We work in Zambia, Tanzania and India. See our Volunteer page for our schedule. The schedule shows where we are accepting volunteers and what dates.

Q. What nationality do you have to be to volunteer?

A. Although, we are registered in the United States, nationality doesn't matter. We accept volunteers from around the world. 

Q. Is every person accepted into your volunteer program?

A. No. Not all applicants are accepted. Our program isn't right for everyone. In order to join our program, you must prove to us that you are able to handle living and working in another country. At times you will have to ride a public bus, use a hole in the ground as a toilet and go without water and electricity. Not every country is like your country. However, that is the beauty of travel! Although we place you in westernized homes. Your lifestyle will change. You must have an open mind and the ability to work with another culture. You must also be willing to try new food and a NEW way of doing things. Most importantly, you must be healthy and willing to help out.

Q. How long can I volunteer?

A. Most people volunteer from 1 week to 6 months. However, if you would like to volunteer longer, you may, just let us know the dates. 

Q. How many people do you accept per month to volunteer?

A. We normally have 1 - 8 people at a time. We can accommodate larger groups with 3 months advanced notice.
