ABROAD (Africa and India)
Make A Difference is seeking volunteer applicants to work with children at orphanages and schools in Tanzania, Zambia and Southern India.

USA
Make A Difference is seeking volunteer applicants (both domestic and international) to help out in the USA. 

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES IN AFRICA AND INDIA:

EDUCATION
Volunteers who are interested in assisting teachers at schools with grading papers, English, Social Studies, Physical Education and Math.

HEALTH
Volunteers who are willing to teach children about one or more of the following: Hygiene, Nutrition, First AID, CPR, AIDS and HIV.

ENVIRONMENT
Volunteers who have an interest in the environment and are willing to share their knowledge with children as well as help clean up villages.

CONSTRUCTION
Volunteers who have experience with construction and can build bunk beds, library shelves, repair buildings or help build a school.

ARTS
Volunteers who are interested in film work, photography, singing, acting, painting, drawing, and sharing their artistic skills with the children.

RECREATION
Volunteers who love recreation and are willing to play games with the children as well as teach them about the importance of physical education, stretching and sports.

INTERNATIONAL PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS

To volunteer with Make A Difference Now you must be:

  • Be 18 years of age OR have both parents consent to volunteer.
  • Be in good health.
  • Be patient and be open to slowing down and working on another culture's time.
  • Have a positive attitude and teamwork mentality.
  • Must be OPEN MINDED and willing to experience a NEW culture.
  • Must be willing to ride a public bus occasionally. 
  • Must be willing to handle not always having running water and electricity 24 hours a day (we have electricity and water, but power outages are very common in Africa/India).
  • Must be able to work alone as well as with others.

PROGRAM SCHEDULE - on going every month

We accept volunteers throughout the year. Please see our program schedule below for the best dates to arrive.


Please join us in, Zambia or India Year- Round

Arrival:  Arrive on the 1st of the month by 8pm
Departure: Depart on the 15th or 30th by 5pm
*Additional weeks can be added on. Departures should be from Kilimanjaro International Airport (KIA) for Tanzania, Ndola (NLA) for Zambia and Bangalore for India.
Location: 
Our staff will meet you with a sign that has your name on it and take you to our guest house or host family. The next day you will meet the children and start and be given a tour of the village before starting your program.
Accommodations (Clean, Safe and Comfortable): 
You will stay in a house with (1 or more) other volunteers from around the world. Most of our volunteers have their own room, but there is a chance you may share a room with others (females with females and males with males). Each bed has clean fresh linens, pillows and a mosquito net. We have maps of the area, books on Africa and First Aid Kits available. 
Private Cook (Preparing Local and International Cuisine): 
Meals will be prepared by our local private cook. Dietary restrictions are taken into consideration and western cuisine can be prepared along side local dishes.
Culture and Language Guide: 
Once a week you will have discussions about the culture and language with a local.
Own Driver and Excursion Guides: 
If at anytime after 4-5 days of volunteer work a week you are welcome to go on an excursion. Our excursion guides will help you plan any safari, day hike or exploration to your liking. We believe if you are going to take care of others you have to also be able to take care of yourself!

PROGRAM COSTS - ONE OF THE LOWEST

Just $500 a week (after the first week) of initiation. Fuel prices are some of the highest in the world, so we cannot afford to make our program free, but we do strive to keep it one of the lowest. If you think our numbers are too high, we will try to match any other organization that you find in the same location for the same duration of time.

Price covers:
- Donation to orphanage
- Airport pickup and drop off
- Daily transport service (car and fuel)
- Meals Monday - Saturday provided by a private cook.
(Sunday the kitchen is open for you to cook)
- Bedding and toiletries
- One day safari (only for Zambia volunteers)
- Laundry once a week (sheets, towels)
- Salaries for local guide, driver, cook, program coordinator and director 
- Training (for AIDS education volunteers)
- Language guide (Swahili for Tanzania and Bemba for Zambia)
- Supplies for projects (paint, wood, tools, gloves for gardening, seeds etc.)

All Inclusive Pricing:
*Pricing below has increased by $100 due to the increase in food and fuel prices.
1 week -  $600
2 weeks - $1,100
3 weeks - $1,600
4 weeks - $2,100

5 weeks or more ($2,100 plus $500 USD per additional
week).


Independent Budget Travelers
For those willing to rough it a bit more and take the local dala dala (mini buses) for transport after two weeks (price will drop down to $250 a week).

Single supplement. For volunteers who would like to volunteer alone (when there are no other volunteers) there will be a fee increase to cover costs.

Please make checks payable to Make A Difference. Deposits must be received by the first of the month (2 months) before your volunteer date.

Final payment of your program fee is due 30 days before departure.
All volunteers must pay in full before arriving in Africa or India.
Installments are not acceptable.
